Fly Makers Wax, also known as Cobblers Wax, has long been important to the fly Tyer.  These waxes aid the Tyer in many ways from helping dubbing adhere to the thread to waterproofing and protecting the silk. The different waxes have different properties as listed below.
622 wax.  Also known as summer wax, this is the hardest and least tacky of the traditional waxes
721 wax, medium hardness and tack.  Probably the workhorse wax of the traditional fly Tyer
722.  Soft high tack wax, also known as winter wax. Although not a dubbing wax this wax has use in light dubbing applications
